Sequential Yew________Abbey Gould

Personally, I stress the necessity for creating no bounds within the art realms, that everything can be an illumination; so I’m gonna blog about a recently sourced artist, who awakens my own work and curiosity immensely, with sound being my most passionate artform-
Wang Fujui, his installations involve the interactivity between sound and light. Mid Last year he did a New Zealand tour and played at Whammy, in conjunction with Audio Foundation and White Fungus publication.

Wang Fujui is one of the pioneers of experimental music and digital art in Taiwan; experimenting in data bending and sound manipulation. This is essentially the ‘sound’ of an image. Tapping into the vibrations of the digital zeitgeist, I believe that these sounds, although abstract, let us perceive the images with all of our senses. Yawing from our reality and dipping into an interwoven network of information and consciousness that operates on an alternative frequency. And that frequency being our own conception of the mirrored world. The everyday. Let us source muse from all around us, then translating that into our digital database lifestyle. The banal can be interpreted in the most harmonious of ways, i.e. the casting of a shadow or the sound of a slow-burning paper, alit. By having a constant open mind for inspiration, let the modest of resources process through our artistry, to find innovation.

I feel as graphic designers – although this is more so performance art- it is still relevant to us. We too are pursuing the projection of a digital manifestation, onto the hyper extreme world of today.
